This perennial grass is a very resistant and at the same time easy to care for plant. If at all, the use of fertilisers is necessary only in the first year. The plant survives the winter months with an underground rhizome. From spring to late autumn it shoots new stems up to 3 metres high which dry over the winter period and are ready to harvest the following spring (April/May). The Miscanthus plant has a great impact on our climate. Per hectare, the plant binds up to 36 tonnes of CO2 per year.
Moreover, with approximately 10 - 12 tonnes per hectare, the Miscanthus plant produces an unusually high amount of biomass.
